About
Shibari
The Japanese word Shibari means “to tie”. However, in contemporary uses, Shibari refers to the use of rope bondage as an art form. Originally used from 1400’s to 1700’s as a form of imprisonment and restraining captives by the Samurai, they used different rope techniques to show honor and status of the prisoners. By the 1800’s, Kinbaku had evolved and began using these beautiful geometric rope tying techniques in erotic bondage that we are more familiar with today.
About ThE workshop
Why Shibari
As an experienced sacred witness and rope rigger, Erin Leigh has been perfecting her self tying techniques for the past year. This workshop is intended for those who are ready to step on the path of radical embodiment of true Eros energy. We will cover technical considerations when working with rope, two beginner ties – a basic chest harness and simple hip harness, how to negotiate your own yes/no boundaries and non-negotiable behaviors with yourself, a guided meditation and sound healing followed by time for individual sharing at the end.
Benefits from this work include:
- Experience what simultaneous surrender and power feels like
- Letting go of shame, guilt, fear and any other self-judgements you have placed upon yourself
- Stepping into a different sensual paradigm
- Emotional release of energetic blocks holding you back
- Deepening your connection between masculine and feminine energies
- Reclaiming your body as a temple and source of life
